About Ritsumeikan Primary School

Ritsumeikan Primary School opened in April 2006 as the first elementary school in the Ritsumeikan Academy. Its education is built around a vision of a learning community that nurtures people who change the world, and includes a house system in which children of different ages learn together, as well as hands-on projects developed with specialists and companies.

The school is also active internationally. Its program for Japanese children living overseas welcomes children studying Japanese abroad for about two weeks each summer (June to July), giving them the chance to join regular classes and experience daily life in Japan through a homestay. The school also runs a two-way exchange with Chitralada School in Thailand.

Online exchange is equally active: in the 2023 academic year, fifth graders connected in Japanese and English with 130 Japanese children from 14 schools across four countries — the United States, Canada, Costa Rica, and Paraguay. For more, visit the Ritsumeikan Primary School website.

About Ritsumeikan Uji Junior and Senior High School

Since it opened in 1994, Ritsumeikan Uji has placed a strong emphasis on international education, guided by its founding spirit of jiyu to seishin and an educational philosophy of peace and democracy.

In September 2009 it became the first school in the Kansai region to be authorized as an International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) school. It offers four international education courses — IG, IM, IB, and IP — along with well-established support for returnee students and a one-year study abroad program.

In April 2026 the school opened a new dormitory, Ritsumeikan Uji Dormitory (RUD). For more, visit the Ritsumeikan Uji Junior and Senior High School website.
